Umbraco 8 reaches ‘end of life’ in February 2025.

As of February this year, Umbraco has shifted to a security-only phase, meaning for any website on Umbraco v8 or earlier, only security fixes and updates are now served. That's why it's high time to buckle up and plan to rebuild your website onto the latest Umbraco version.

The good news? Umbraco's later versions, especially from version 9 onwards, have been engineered to make maintenance a breeze, so no more banging your head against the wall with major upgrades. With Umbraco 9 and beyond, staying up-to-date is a walk in the park, thanks to some nifty changes in the core coding.

Now, here's the catch: because of the major code shift in version 9, there's no direct upgrade path from version 8 to version 13. Yep, you read that right.
