Although not quite 24/7, the Town Hall building will be accessible 7 days a week, for most of the day. Reception is manned (by Fran) Monday - Friday, 08:30 - 16:00. She sits at the desk at the Monson Way entrance.

Wednesday: 06:00 - 12am
Thursday: 06:00 - 12am

Entrances

There are 3 entrances into the Town Hall building. All are open Mon-Fri during office hours but earlier, later or at weekends, the building is only accessible via 'the backdoor'.

Main Entrance/Reception
This is on Monson Way and is the entrance you would use to access the building during office hours. This is where you will find Fran, pick up the post, collect visitors, have packages delivered, etc.

The Steps
This is the entrance you might naturally associate with the Town Hall, the grand looking doors with the steps, located on the corner of Civic Way. You can access the building through these doors during office hours but there is no manned reception here. It will eventually lead to the cafe and co-working area (currently under construction until Feb 2025). It's also the entrance closest to the Yoyo office.

The Backdoor
Also located on Monson Way but much less conspicuous, is an entrance that you would use to access the building during evenings and weekends. It's a heavy wooden, double door, see the map for details. Inside you will come across a whiteboard on the wall where you should write your name and company on entry and delete when you leave. This is a health and safety requirement and would be used by the fire brigade to locate anyone in the event of a fire/evacuation.

Getting In

All Yoyo employees will be issued with a Fob. This is a small, black object that looks like a mini highlighter pen. It may be small but it is mighty, granting you access to (almost) all areas in the building. It opens all doors to the building, accesses co-working spaces and allows you to move around the building through inter connecting doors on the corridors. Just hold it up to the small black boxes you will see by all the doorways.

We have to pay for them and there is a £10 charge for a replacement, please do take care not to lose them.

What the Fobs don't do, is open the Yoyo office door. This is done using an actual key and this key lives in a security box which is located under the Yoyo sign by the office door.

The box code is 2002

This is to be kept confidential. First person in opens up, last person to leave locks up, key is never to leave the box. Gregg has a spare and Lucie has a skeleton key in the event of an emergency.

Transport

Our home at Town Hall is well located in the centre of Tunbridge Wells, with easy access to car parks and public transport.

Public Transport

Train: Tunbridge Wells Train Station is a 7 minute walk from the Town Hall. For directions, see here.

Bus

he closest stops to Town Hall include Monson Road, Trinity Theatre, War Memorial and Royal Victoria Place and these are within a 2-5 minute walk. Common bus routes serving the area are 7, 1066, 233, 281, 285, 291 and 402. For real time schedules and updates please check your journey here

Bike

There are bike racks outside the main Town Hall entrance (the one with the steps) but you will need your own lock.

There is a bike store in Crescent Road car park and I‘m reliably informed that the code is 2489.

There is talk of having a bike store inside the building but this is still TBC

Car Parking

The closest public car park is on Crescent Road, just a 3-4 minute walk away. This is a large, multi storey car park and you can find more information here. If you come into the office regularly, there is a 3 day parking permit available for Crescent Road which may work out to be better value across the year.

There is also a multi storey car park further down the hill, opposite the train station, a 5-6 minute walk. More details here

If you allow a little extra time, there are residential roads closeby where you might find free parking. These are up to 15 minutes walk from the office and suggestions include:

Mount Ephraim Road (north side)

Some sections of this road may have free parking without restrictions, but be sure to check for any time limits or no parking zones.

Brenchley Gardens

Located a short distance to the east of the Town Hall, this street generally has unrestricted parking, but always verify if any restrictions are in place.

Crescent Road

A road that runs parallel to the Town Hall area and often has unrestricted parking on certain sections. It's worth checking for time-limited parking.

Little Mount Sion

Another street nearby where you might find free parking, though there could be some restrictions in certain areas, so be sure to confirm.

Claremont Road

Found to the west of the Town Hall, it can offer unrestricted parking. However, again, confirm by checking parking signs.

Tunbridge Wells Common

Some of the roads that surround the Common (like those off of Mount Ephraim) might have spaces without restrictions.

Royal Chase

This is a residential road located to the north of the Town Hall area. Generally, there are no major parking restrictions on this road, but you should still be cautious and look for any parking signs indicating time limits, resident-only parking, or no parking zones.

Boyne Park

Quite close to the Town Hall and is a quieter residential area. There are typically some unrestricted areas for parking, especially on the road leading to Boyne Park itself, but like other areas near the town centre, there may be time-limited parking or restrictions during weekdays.

Please note, parking restrictions are subject to change and it is your responsibility to double check this before parking, you do so at your own risk.

Meetings & Visitors

Visitors

Be sure to direct your visitors to the Monson Way entrance, where they will find Reception. Fran will Slack the office channel when they arrive.

PDF to share with visitors - map, address, parking, public transport

Depending on how many visitors you have, you could lend them the Yoyo Guest fob for their time in the office or if it's a group, reception can issue them if required. As long as they're mostly with you within the building, they may not need one.

Please note that visitors are not permitted in the co-working space, this is a Members only area. Once the cafe is up and running, this will be a nice place to sit and have a coffee but in the meantime, I'm told it's Yoyo office or meeting rooms only.

If there is a client/contact who wants to work at Town Hall for the day and utilise the co-working area and facilities, we can purchase a Day Pass for them for £30. Please ask Emily for details.

Meetings / Meeting Rooms

Meeting rooms must be booked in advance using the Town Square system Here

There is a cost for booking the rooms which is added to our monthly invoices. As members, we receive a 20% discount on the costs and we have one booking per month free of charge

There is no catering service available so it's up to us to provide water, teas, coffees, snacks, food etc. I believe water jugs and glasses are available from the kitchen on the first floor but always double check

I'm told that local cafe Charlie's Angels offer good quality and reasonably priced hot meal options for meetings and they will deliver to Town Hall. Options might be limited as they repurpose surplus food and work with whatever they have at the time.

The weekly fire alarm drill is every Friday at 2pm - one to bear in mind for any key meetings/presentations

There is a pod casting studio on site!

Workspace & Desks

Work Areas

Within the Town Hall building, we have our own office. This is on the ground floor, Unit G20 / 1.28.

All Yoyo employees also have access to the co-working spaces in the building. The main co-working area, located in the centre of the building, is still under construction and won't be functional until February 2025. This area will also include a cafe. Until then, a temporary co-working area can be found on the ground floor in Unit G10. See plan for location.

Private meeting rooms are available to hire for workshops, presentations, team meetings, client meetings etc. See 'Meetings & Visitors' section for more info.

Yoyo Desks

Within the Yoyo office, we have:

6 individual desks, 4 have screens

The long, tall table which can seat 3-4 people working with laptops

The Room, for working and making private calls

Soft seating which could accommodate a couple of people who wanted to perch with a laptop for a short period of time.

The co-working space is of course available if your preferred work space is not available.

The Facilities

Catering

Within our office we will have tea and coffee making facilities, along with a small fridge for milk and any personal food items/lunches/beers.

At the end of our corridor (out the office door and turn right) is a room with a sink, a table and chairs and a water machine. There is also a hot water dispenser.

On the first floor (along the corridor directly above us) there is a more substantial, shared kitchen area with dishwasher, microwave, toaster and kettle. There is also a fridge up there but this is not for storing any personal/Yoyo items.

Toilets

There are no toilets located on our corridor. The closest ground floor option is across the foyer and into the next corridor, opposite the temporary co-working rooms.

Alternatively, on the first floor; go into the foyer, up the stairs and into the corridor to the left.

Health & Safety

Yoyo office

We are responsible for anything and everything that goes on in the Yoyo office space. Our Health & Safety policy can be found Here.

Town Hall building

Town Square (who lease the Town Hall space from TWBC) is responsible for the maintenance and Health & Safety for all public/shared spaces within the building. Their Health & Safety policy can be found Here.

Please note that weekly fire drills take place at 2pm on Fridays.

Town Square Membership

What's On

Town Square organise events, talks, workshops, expos and more for their members. Some virtual, some taking place in the Town Hall building. I hear rumours of yoga classes and even a monthly sound bath taking place in the Chamber Room!

Town Square actively encourage their members to mix, network and socialise

Being in the know

All Yoyo employees are signed up to receive the Town Square monthly newsletter. This is a great place to read about news, events, new members and operational/building info.

Town Square use a system called Circle as a members community page. We can post messages, ask questions, find our what's on and register for events. Everyone in the team should have access to this, please contact Emily if you're not sure.
