Following the success of the Saving Setrus project for the International Affairs department, The Open University selected Yoyo to produce a fun and educational game for the History department.
We came up with an interactive role-play game to help students understand the key struggles that 17th century life threw up, where fate and circumstance played a huge part. Players choose one of four characters whose life story unfolds before them, prompting them to make key decisions at various stages of their lives to try and improve the character’s wealth and social standing. A comic-book style was chosen to help keep the content bright and fun - a good antidote to the morbid reality of the period! We built the game using the AngularJS and incorporated HTML5 video for the animated scenes to provide a richer gaming experience.
