What is the female lead lunch?

Great company, in a great setting, with great food. These events provide a great opportunity to step away from the day, and to meet other ambitious leaders from a whole range of sectors. Facilitated by our CEO Jenny, these lunches are run by women, for women, to rally around what it means to run a purpose-driven organisation.

Why this topic?

The theme for this event centred around Women Supporting Women - but it’s a theme that runs throughout all of the Female Lead Lunches. The group is all about providing an understanding environment filled with women who face similar questions and challenges. Even though we’ve come leaps and bounds in recent times, there are still obstacles exclusive to female leadership. Holding events where the focus is Women Supporting Women, these like-minded leaders can be empowered in a space where they are understood.

What came up?

Though the nature of these conversations is intimate and personal, here are some of the major topics covered:

The beauty of female networking

There is power in friendship, and that power goes a long way in the business world. With so many sectors represented, there was ample opportunity for sharing and learning from one another. One point touched upon was how female networking differs in that it emphasises connection and empathy. This lunch was just one opportunity to embody and discuss just that.  

Investment and fundraising

Nationwide, business has been made more difficult in 2023 by economic challenges. As this year draws to a close, the group reflected on what it’s been like to lead teams through what have often been uncertain times. From introductions to investors, to advice about navigating tricky conversations, common ground was found in optimism and hope for 2024.

Tensions on both sides of the fence

Whether you’re an employer dealing with increased costs, or an employee doing three jobs at once, we’re all feeling internal pressures. Regardless of industry or position, kindness and support go a long way in maintaining the health of the organisation, and ideas about how to go about that flowed through the room.
