Research Live
Brand, Website UI / UX

Building a bold digital identity for a pioneering market research platform.
For over 20 years, Research Live has been the go-to source for market research news and insights. But with the industry shifting and the Market Research Society (MRS) steering their publishing strategy in a fresh direction, a digital glow-up was well overdue.
It didn’t take too much research for the team to realise Yoyo were perfectly placed to help them. Together we created a bold new brand that portrays Research Live as a heavyweight in the digital media space (because that’s exactly what they are) and a redesigned website that’s sleek, smart and seriously user-friendly.

The opportunity.
Research Live was ready to step away from its magazine-style roots and fully embrace digital. But to do this, they needed a site with the feel and functionality of a premium news platform. A site which would make it easier for readers to explore, engage and sign up for MRS events and memberships. And one which would drive ad sales while keeping the editorial flow uninterrupted.
The challenge? We started the project in May 2024 and needed to handover to the web development team by September. No pressure then.

The business need.
To position them as a major player in the digital media space, Research Live’s brand was in need of a little love. The company needed help evolving their identity and applying it to web designs that deliver an intuitive, accessible and SEO-friendly experience. Oh, and they needed a super smooth handover process so their dev team could hit the ground running.
The audience need.
With a global readership spanning market researchers, data analysts and business pros, Research Live needed to be both relevant and accessible to a diverse crowd. Their readers wanted a seamless site that looks just as slick on mobile as it does on desktop and gives them more ways to engage with content.

Our approach.
Before we picked up tools, we picked up sticks and headed to visit the Research Live team for an in-depth workshop. In this session we found out how far the team wanted to push things creatively. Based on their insights, we went big on bold typography and clean designs, crafting fresh branding that grabs attention but is grounded in editorial integrity.
Streamlining the site.
Then we got to work applying the refreshed brand to website designs. But we didn’t just create pages which looked great, we made sure they would work perfectly too. Prioritising structured layouts for seamless navigation and visual cues for cross-selling opportunities. Not to mention, making sure the design looked just as good across all devices.

Detailed web designs for a bump-free build.
With MRS’s tech partner handling the build, we prepped detailed annotated wireframes and a functional spec that got rid of any guesswork. But we didn’t stop there. Team Yoyo saved some time to review the designs in action once the site was live - providing clear, actionable feedback to enhance it even more.

The results.
Research Live are now proud owners of a sharp, modern brand that feels as authoritative as the industry it serves. And they’ve got a website which acts as an engagement machine, making it easier for users to discover, read and (oh-so crucially) take action.
