Rebuilding a website to reflect a revolutionary brand.

King & Allen are an inclusive tailors that celebrate diversity and ignite personal style. When it comes to suit shopping, they help people from all walks of life to find their perfect fit. And when it came to redeveloping their website, they knew Yoyo were their perfect partners.

Together we built a new site that reflects their revolutionary ethos, making it easier for visitors to create their dream suit and it more simple for the King & Allen team to manage.

The business need

They needed to build consumer trust, increase leads, and reflect their modern approach to traditional tailoring. Oh, and they needed a site which wasn’t outdated.

The customer need

A streamlined navigation system was needed to help visitors explore the site with ease and make sure anyone who wants to wear a suit feels welcome.

The opportunity

King & Allen have been revolutionising the tailoring industry since 2004, but their existing site had become outdated - no longer reflecting their pioneering ethos or unrivalled reputation. There was a clear opportunity for them to stand out and attract more customers by building a website more in line with their brand identity.

By showcasing everything they have to offer and simplifying content management, we knew we could help King & Allen to generate leads, cement their place as industry pioneers, and make their team’s lives easier.

Our approach

We assembled an A team to help bring King & Allen’s dream site to life, approaching the project through our tried and tested Discover, Define, Deliver process. But it soon became clear that it wasn’t just their website that was a little tired - their branding was too. So we took a quick break from scheduled programming to work on a fresh visual identity, collaborating to create mood boards, logos, colour schemes and brand assets.

Crafting an ownable identity for an iconic company.

We create brands which stay true to companies’ roots and stand the test of time, and that’s exactly what we did for King & Allen. Crafting a new visual identity and a suite of iconic, reusable graphics based on suit panels. Initially one large design piece, we took crops from the graphic device and applied it throughout their web design. The crew at King & Allen loved the branding work so much that they’re now planning to use it in their stores, too (and we’re already itching to pop in and see it too).

With their branding updated, we turned our attention back to the website. Using Umbraco, our fave flexible content management system, to build a future proof site that’ll evolve with the brand.

Designing a user experience that’s a cut above the rest.

We built on King & Allen’s existing audience segmentation, using it to inform all of our design and UX decisions. Our customer knowledge was how we knew complex filtering was crucial, and it’s why we developed a site which not only lets users find their dream suit with ease, but helps to eradicate the traditional binary categorisation of suit cuts as masculine or feminine.

When King & Allen say they’re inclusive they mean it, so we also made sure that we didn’t alienate the more traditional suit purchaser. Equipped with spreadsheets a plenty (and some strong coffee) our development experts got the job done. Making over 3000 fabric swatches simple for visitors to order and the team to supply.

The results

King & Allen now have a site which reflects their groundbreaking brand and represents their bespoke suits in the best way. We increased the number of swatches available to request by over 3000, allowing website visitors to be super specific with their suit search - even when they’re not sure exactly what they want.
