Locate Productions is a full-service production agency that helps brands, directors and photographers answer this challenge by managing access to stunning shoot locations and backdrops across the world. Often incorrectly pigeon-holed as only a location library, the growing company was keen to refresh its brand identity and website to better reflect its broader offering and sustainable ethos.
While project outcomes were always geared towards a website redesign and brand refresh, the door of the brief was left deliberately open by Locate Productions.
The initial discovery phase was therefore crucial to uncover key considerations and refine the objectives. Yoyo guided this process, workshopping questions around how the brand needed to change and where it needed to remain consistent to align itself correctly in the eyes of target audiences.
Locate Productions’ legacy website had several shortcomings: aesthetically it was outdated and operationally it was inflexible.
Content also felt cluttered and confused, meaning the site failed to represent the dynamism of the team and reflect their core values, which include a determined commitment to limit the company’s impact on the environment. To improve the user experience and smooth journeys across the site, Yoyo helped Locate rethink the content strategy and redraw the site structure, simplifying and distilling elements as part of a streamlining process. Imagery was curated and copy edited down to a level where it could all breathe more easily together on the page.

The right direction
A cleaner, clearer digital representation of the agency’s full-service offering and market-leading status.
On agreement of the website structure and brand direction, the project moved into design and build, tapping into Yoyo’s wealth of Umbraco expertise. The urgent delivery timeframe led to the adoption of a phased approach, with Yoyo leading the technical implementation in concert with the in-house technical resource to meet the deadline. The end result equipped the client team with a variety of page templates and components to give them the flexibility to manage ongoing site updates.
Working in harmony
The redesigned website and refreshed brand work in harmony to truly showcase the company’s proposition and underline the company’s wide-ranging credentials as production experts.
On the homepage, the selected examples of striking imagery – both stills and video – immediately draw users into a visually rich world. The use of parallax scrolling, motion triggers and a subtly animated logo all contribute to the dynamic feel. A page dedicated to ‘The Planet’ clearly projects the team’s strong environmental focus, which is complemented by the fact the website sits on Yoyo’s sustainable hosting server, where emissions are offset by the planting of trees. And the searchable location library, a separate entity, is now discoverable as part of a more logical user journey, rather than dominating and defining the brand.
