Reliable website hosting and careful migrations, powered by 100% renewable energy
Making better digital decisions
At Yoyo Design, we provide hosting and migration services for organisations that need their websites to stay live, fast and secure. For most of our clients, the website is the front door of the business or charity. Hosting is what keeps that door open.
Hosting is invisible when it is done well and catastrophic when it is not. We work with a Cyber Essentials certified hosting partner whose infrastructure runs on 100% renewable energy, with on-site solar, Tesla batteries and custom low-voltage servers that cut energy use by 70%. The result is hosting that meets the strict security standards your IT team will ask about and the sustainability standards your board increasingly does.
Yoyo is a B Corp, which means our green hosting choice is not a marketing line. Digital services have one of the highest levels of energy use of any industry. Choosing renewable partners is one of the most practical ways an agency like ours can reduce the impact of the work we put into the world. We also handle hosting migrations. Migrations are one of the higher-risk moments in a website's life. We plan them carefully, protect rankings and traffic, minimise downtime and stay accountable from cutover through to post-launch monitoring.
Why is hosting one of the most underrated decisions an organisation makes?
Hosting choice is usually made quickly, often late in a project, and rarely reviewed again until something breaks. By then the cost is visible. Downtime, security issues, slow pages, lost search visibility and the panic of trying to switch hosts mid-crisis. Good hosting is a quiet investment that only becomes obvious when it is not in place.
Reliable hosting sits at an awkward intersection. It has to be fast, secure, resilient, scalable, accountable and increasingly sustainable. Most cheap hosts cut corners on at least one of those. Most managed providers charge a premium without owning the relationship with you. The right hosting partner makes the trade-offs visible and tells you what your site actually needs.
A hosting service that earns its place starts somewhere different to one that just runs the servers. It begins with accountability, includes proper security and monitoring as standard and is honest about both performance and environmental impact. That is the difference between a host that takes your payment and one that keeps your site live.
Helping organisations keep their websites fast, secure and online
We start with what your website needs to do, not with a hosting tier. Then we recommend the setup that supports it properly, whether that is shared, dedicated, cloud or managed hosting, and we run the relationship so your team does not have to.
We shape every hosting and migration engagement around:
Reliable hosting with guaranteed uptime - Infrastructure built to deliver 99.9% uptime, so your site stays live at the moments it matters most.
Green hosting on renewable energy - 100% renewable power, on-site solar and Tesla batteries, and custom low-voltage servers that cut energy use by 70% without compromising performance.
Security as standard, not as an upsell - SSL, firewalls, malware protection and regular server patching, delivered through a Cyber Essentials certified hosting partner.
Smooth, low-risk migrations - Careful planning, staged cutovers, redirect mapping and SEO preservation so the move does not cost you visibility or sales.
One accountable point of contact - We act as the single owner of hosting issues, dealing directly with the host so your team does not have to chase support tickets.
Scalable when you actually need it - Upgrades and resource changes recommended when the site genuinely needs them, not pushed before it does.
The aim is hosting that you forget about, in the best possible way.
The Industries we partner with
We work with B2B businesses, charities, membership organisations, professional services firms and mission-led brands. The common thread is that the website matters, downtime has a real commercial cost and sustainability is increasingly part of the conversation.
That spans charities running fundraising and campaigns, membership bodies whose websites are the day-to-day operational hub for their members, B2B businesses where lost uptime means lost enquiries, and brands whose values demand a hosting partner whose values match. Examples of our wider work include:
RNLI for one of the UK's best known charities, where a national audience relies on the website being available
B Lab UK for the B Corp movement, where mission and operational reliability sit side by side
Worldwide Cancer Research for a charity website built around donor trust and sustained reliability
IAM RoadSmart for a national membership organisation where day-to-day member access depends on the site staying live
The Sustainable Restaurant Association for a sustainability-led organisation whose digital footprint mattered to the brief
These are the kinds of organisations that need hosting to be invisible because it just works.
Delivering your hosting and migrations
Hosting is ongoing, migrations are a project. We run both with the same focus on accountability, so you know exactly what is happening, who owns it and what to expect next.
Across hosting and migration work, we cover:
Hosting setup and configuration - matching the environment to what your site actually needs rather than upselling capacity you will not use.
Continuous uptime monitoring - proactive monitoring with first-point-of-contact accountability when anything looks off.
Security management - SSL, firewalls, malware protection, server software patching and ongoing vulnerability reduction.
Backup and recovery - scheduled and managed backups, with prompt recovery if anything goes wrong.
Hosting migration planning and cutover - staged planning, full QA, careful go-live and post-launch monitoring to minimise downtime and protect rankings.
Technical liaison with the hosting provider - we manage the relationship with the host so your team does not have to chase tickets or escalate problems.
You always know who owns what and where to come if something is not right.
Hosting and migration credentials
Yoyo is a B Corp, which means our hosting choices reflect the same commitments we make in the rest of the business. Our hosting partner runs on 100% renewable energy, with on-site solar, Tesla batteries and a 100% renewable backup electricity provider. Server components are custom built and low voltage, cutting energy use by 70%. The data centre is itself carbon neutral, with any residual carbon offset through projects focused on preventing Amazon deforestation. There is a natural gas standby generator on site for power outages, and the data centre is located in South East England.
Our hosting partner is Cyber Essentials certified, a UK government information assurance scheme operated by the National Cyber Security Centre, awarded only to providers who can demonstrate they meet strict security standards. You can read more about how we think about all of this in our writing on why green hosting is a mission priority, selecting the right hosting provider and keeping your website's digital carbon footprint low.
And as a Registered Umbraco Gold Partner with in-house development, our hosting and migration work is grounded in real platform knowledge. We know what to check, what tends to break and what good looks like, especially for Umbraco-based sites.

FAQ's
What is included in your website hosting service?
Reliable hosting with a 99.9% uptime guarantee, continuous uptime monitoring, security management including SSL, firewalls, malware protection and server patching, scheduled backups and recovery, scalability recommendations as your site grows, and a single accountable point of contact for hosting issues. We act as the intermediary with the hosting provider, so your team does not have to chase support tickets.
Do you offer green hosting?
Yes. Our standard hosting infrastructure runs on 100% renewable energy, with on-site solar, Tesla batteries, custom low-voltage servers that cut energy use by 70%, and a carbon neutral data centre. Residual carbon is offset through projects focused on preventing Amazon deforestation. As a B Corp, sustainability is part of how we operate rather than an add-on.
What is your uptime guarantee?
Our hosting comes with a 99.9% uptime guarantee. We back that up with continuous monitoring, security maintenance and proactive issue resolution, so the rare occasions something does go wrong are caught and resolved quickly rather than escalating.
Do you handle hosting migrations from other providers?
Yes. We migrate websites from a wide range of hosting providers onto our managed hosting setup. The process covers full planning, staging, redirect mapping, DNS management, careful cutover, post-migration monitoring and SEO preservation. Migrations are higher-risk by nature, so we plan them properly rather than rushing the go-live.
How do you minimise downtime during a hosting migration?
Through proper preparation. That means staging the new environment fully, testing thoroughly before cutover, scheduling go-live for the lowest-traffic window when possible, monitoring closely during the switch and being ready to respond instantly if anything needs adjusting. The aim is a migration your users do not notice.
Do you protect SEO during hosting migrations?
Yes. We treat SEO preservation as a core part of any migration. That includes redirect mapping, preserving URL structures where possible, maintaining metadata and structured data, and monitoring rankings closely post-migration. If you also need a deeper SEO and GEO engagement alongside the migration, we can run both as one connected piece of work.
Are Umbraco CMS updates included in hosting?
No. Hosting covers the infrastructure your site runs on. Updates to the Umbraco CMS itself, including testing and implementation, are scoped and quoted separately as part of Umbraco support and development work. We will always be clear about which falls where so there are no surprises.
Do you provide out-of-hours support?
Our standard support hours are 9.00am to 5.30pm Monday to Friday. Out-of-hours cover can be arranged through a separate agreement where it is genuinely needed, for example for sites where weekend or evening traffic is mission critical. We will be honest about whether out-of-hours support is actually warranted for your situation.
